Never too busy to learn: How the modern team can learn together in the busy workplace

Healthcare is delivered by multiprofessional teams in increasingly busy workplaces. The complexities of our modern day patient dictate the learning needs and profession-specific skills required to function in a system that is always in high-demand.  Sometimes we can develop a feeling of being too busy to learn and Never too busy to learn shows us that this does not have to be true.

Rather than be a hindrance to workplace learning, the modern team and healthcare environment can be the catalyst for individual and group development. This publication highlights, practical, fun and successful methods of learning in the workplace, drawing on the input of all healthcare professionals. Ranging from activities that require a different mindset or questioning style, and invitation of perspectives; to changing how we structure our working day, the way we communicate and incorporate new technology. This resource highlights just some of the learning opportunities available in everyday practice, and will give you top-tips on how to maximise these for yourself and your colleagues.

Regardless of your profession or grade, at least one of our eight themes of workplace learning can be replicated in your workplace, today!

The online Multisource feedback tool (MSF) for supervisors/educators

The online Multisource feedback tool (MSF) has been specifically designed to give supervisors the opportunity to get individual feedback from their learners on the quality of their supervision.

It's available for those working in London organisations and is applicable to all healthcare professions and educator/supervisor roles.

Educators involved in the education and supervision of healthcare learners within their organisation should have the necessary knowledge, skills and approaches to help develop and support learners in practice, across the healthcare professions. This Framework is a guide to best practice and to help practitioners to demonstrate their skills in their role as educators and supervisors. It is applicable in all clinical settings and Higher Education Institutions.

The Framework is designed around seven key areas of activity, all of which relate to the role of an educator and supervisor across healthcare learning environments. The Framework document can be accessed once you’ve accessed the website from the downloads panel on the right. A list of online modules mapped to the Framework Areas can be found on the HEE Educator Hub.
